The exhibition "Shigeo Fukuda / Journey to the West" shows over 100 original posters by one of Japan's most influential and internationally renowned graphic designers and poster artists — Shigeo Fukuda. These include his most celebrated and best-known works from five decades, created between the 1970s and his death in 2009.
Fukuda's use of optical illusions brought a new character to the international design scene. His influence on poster art was groundbreaking and inspired generations. His posters are often humorous and always masterfully realized. Many of his works have won international awards.
The guest speakers are:
- René Grohnert, the director of the Deutsches Plakat Museum at Museum Folkwang.
- Eishi Kitazawa, the former director of the Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg).
We are pleased that the Fukuda family will be present.
